Citroen DS5 Promo Video
With the 2012 Citroen DS5 turning up at Frankfurt production-ready, we now have a promo video for Citroen’s latest DS model.
There have been lots of models in Citroen’s history that have been game changers. The 2CV was the affordable workhorse for generations and the DS stunned the world with its elegance and sophistication. But the new DS cars are changing things for Citroen almost as much, and now we’re about to get the latest new DS in our showrooms – the 2012 Citroen DS5.
The DS5 aims to build on the great start Citroen made with its new generation of DS models when it launched the DS3. We all thought the DS3 would be just a C3 in posh clothes, but it’s far more than that.
The DS3 is a brilliant combination of style and substance; it looks good, drives well and brings a smile to your face every time you see it. And the new DS5 looks set to give Citroen a proper family-sized car that can pull off the same trick of not just looking great, but being a simply great car.
Lots of individual styling cues seem to abound in the DS5, just as they do in the DS3, from the watch-strap emulating leather upholstery to the cocooning and eye-catching centre console.
But it’s not just style that defined the DS5, it also has some very clever tech options including the same diesel hybrid setup found in the Peugeot 3008. That means 4WD and a hybrid powertrain that promise 200bhp and a silly amount of miles to the gallon. Not only that, but the promise of BIK-busting sub 100g/km emissions on the base model.
The Citroen DS5 starts arriving in European car showrooms next month, although we won’t get it in the UK until early 2012 when it should, unlike most family-sized Citroens in recent years, be flying out of the showroom.
We just hope it drives as well as it looks.
