Could the arrival of the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake preview the arrival of a DB11 shooting Brake as AML extend their range?
Aston Martin properly revealed the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake this week as the final piece of the latest Aston Martin Zagato family – and a farewell, probably, to the current Vanquish.
Just like the DB11, the Vanquish will soon be brought properly in to the 21st century with the AML’s much improved platform and engines, heading further upmarket and becoming almost hardcore in the process.
It will follow behind the new AM Vantage – probably in late 2018 – as the Aston Martin range gets extended, and be followed by Aston’s first mid-engined car – a challenge to Ferrari and McLaren – and the DBX SUV.
But with the Vanquish going hardcore, it seems highly unlikely Aston Martin would consider anything more than a Coupe and Volante model, but with a new found confidence at AML, and an obvious desire to extend their offerings, that doesn’t mean the chances of a proper production Shooting Brake from Aston Martin are off the table.
Wish may be father to the thought, but the idea of a DB11 Shooting Brake is just too appealing to be dismissed as a non-starter, especially with the overwhelming amount of praise heaped on the Vanquish Shooting Brake.
It mat not be just round the corner, but surely a DB11 Shooting Brake – perhaps with a couple of seats in the back and an almost usable load area – has to be up there on the lost of ‘must dos’ at AML?
