Aston Martin boss Ulrich Bez has reportedly confirmed that Aston Martin will launch a Roadster version of the V12 Vantage at Geneva 2012.
When Aston Martin launched the V12 Vantage – all the fun of the V8 Vantage but with proper V12 goodness – AM declared it a limited edition model. But as we reported back in May 2012, the V12 Vantage became a proper production model.
The next step was the obvious – chop the top off – and reports now say that’s been confirmed by Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin boss, and seems likely to arrive at Geneva 2012. That means an Aston Martin Vantage Roadster that delivers 510bhp with a 0-60mph time of 4.2 seconds.
It’s great to see Aston Martin delivering even more choice, and their cars are still a joy. But as we’ve said before, how much longer can Aston Martin keep going with just one ageing platform and bought-in engines that really need to be brought up to date?
Still, we wouldn’t say no to an Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster. Or any other Aston, for that matter.
