After the news yesterday that the Audi A1 quattro will cost an enormous £41k, we though video of the A1 quattro in action might help.
Yes, the Audi A1 quattro costs a ridiculous amount of money by any sane standards, but set aside your head and look at it with your heart, and it’s an appealing car. Especially when you see the A1 quattro handling the snowy track in this A1 quattro video.
All wheel drive is not something you really associate with a compact city car – which, for all Audi’s protestations about the A1 being a ‘premium’ car, is exactly what the A1 is – so to see it handle the snow and ice like a proper rally veteran is intoxicating.
But that’s because the A1 quattro gets a proper grown-up 4WD system - even if it does put most of the power through the front wheels most of the time – which makes it handle in these conditions, tyres permitting, about as well as any car has a right to do.
But before you get carried away with the A1 quattro’s snow ballet and feel your debit card burning a hole in your wallet, just remember that most of what the A1 quattro offers will be arriving by 2013 as the Audi S1 quattro.
And the S1 quattro will be more like £30k.
