The new Audi Q2 compact SUV is teased by Audi ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks time. On sale later in 2016.
We’ve already had confirmation that the Audi Q2 – Audi’s new baby SUV – will be arriving this year, and it looks like that will be at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks as Audi start the tease for the Q2.
The tease from Audi (above) doesn’t bother showing us the usual shadowy image of the car, but instead has a line-up of the current Audi SUVs – Q3, Q5 and Q7 – with a ‘Reserved’ spot below the Q3.
Logically, that would mean the upcoming model would be the Q1, but Audi has also confirmed it will actually carry the Q2 moniker, and not Q1, now Audi has acquired the Q2 rights from Alfa Romeo.
The Q2 will be based on a shortened version of the VW MQB platform, with a engines probably based on those offered in the A1, front-wheel drive for the majority of models (but quattro 4WD on the more expensive Q2s) and the likelihood we’ll see a Q2 e-tron and SQ2 performance version at some point.
It seems likely we won’t have to wait until the first press day for Geneva to find out exactly what the Q2 has to offer, but you can be pretty sure it will look just like the other SUVs in Audi’s range – just smaller.
