Audi TT RS gets 400bhp with Sportec
Out of the box the Audi TT RS comes with a fairly potent setup. Its 5-pot , 2.5 litre produces 335bhp and 328lb/ft of the twisty stuff. Which is more than adequate for most purposes. It gets to 60mph quicker than most things on the road, and tops out at an electronically limited 155mph.
But with some coaxing from a re-mapped ECU, the Sportec conversion manages to release an extra 65 horses – giving the RS 400bhp – and a very impressive 401lb/ft of torque. Which translates in to a 0-60mph of around 4 seconds. Sportec also takes the limiter off – so top speed increases a fair bit – but they have chosen not to confirm the exact top speed.
So what does all this extra oomph cost? A not terribly unreasonable £1200+vat. Which is a good return for Sportec from a bit of ECU fiddling, but still a bit of a bargain at less than £20 for each extra horse.
Sportec are also working on some style enhancements to go with the engine upgrade. For my money I’d stick with just the engine upgrade.
Always better to speak with a quiet voice but carry a big (hidden) stick.
