With the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe due in the UK in June, BMW has been busy taking new photos.
It was last Christmas when BMW told us that the new Gran Coupe would be priced from £61,380 in the UK (for the entry-level 640i Gran Coupe).
For some reason best known to BMW’s bean counters that seems to have gone up by a tenner since December, and the 640d has gone up by a fiver. Perhaps the little extra on top is to pay the photographer they’ve sent out to take photos of the new Gran Coupe in RHD for the UK arrival?
It seems, that although BMW UK found themselves a RHD Gran Coupe, they felt the need to wander round Europe to take the photos, which almost defeats the point of going to the expense of taking new photos in the first place. Still, they made the effort.
So we get a new set of photos of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, slightly revised prices – 640i at £61,390, 640d at £63,900 and 650i at 70,650 – and the news that the Gran Coupe hits UK shores in June.
What will be interesting, once the new 6 Series, 6 Series Gran Coupe and new 7 Series are all on sale just how sales will pan out. To our eyes the Gran Coupe is better looking than the 6 Series Coupe and more appealing than the 7 Series too, unless you’re playing Chauffeurs.
And with prices very similar – 640d Coupe £62,080, 740d £65,305 and 640d Gran Coupe £63,900 – we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Gran Coupe stealing sales from both the 6 Series and the 7 Series.
Which probably wasn’t BMW’s plan.
