The new BMW 8 Series is heading for a UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as is the BMW M4 CS, as party of BMW’s 2017 Goodwood offerings.
We’re less than a week away from the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and BMW has announced the UK will get its first look at the new 8 Series Concept, as well as the M4 CS as they form part of BMW’s offerings for this year’s Festival.
The new BMW 8 Series – revealed last month – sees the return of the range-topping 8 Series to BMW’s line-up, but it seems it’s not going to be competition for cars like the Mercedes S Class Coupe and Bentley Continental GT as we expected.
The new 8 Series – and the M8, expected to launch at the same time in 2018 – will actually be aiming to take on cars like the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT as a driver-focussed car, as able on track as on the road.
Also on show for the first time in the UK will be the new BMW M4 CS – revealed in April and filling a gap between the regular M4 and M4 GTS – which comes with 454bhp, tweaked suspension, lumps of CFRP and an extra £20k on the bill. BMW will be sending it up the hillclimb so we can see if the £20k extra is worth it.
Other goodies on offer from BMW at Goodwood this year include the Gordon Murray-designed Brabham-BMW BT52 and the Le Mans-winning BMW V12 LMR – which will both take on the hillcimb – BMW’s Art Car Collection BMW M6 GTLM race car, BMW M3 and M4 Competition Package models, and the latest BMW iPerformance models.
The 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 29 June to 2 July.
