The Brabham BT62 is the first product from the new Brabham Automotive, and it’s teased in a single image ahead of a reveal in London in May 2018.
The Brabham name is back in the car industry with the arrival of Brabham Automotive – run by Jack Brabham’s son, David Brabham – and is soon to deliver its first car in the Brabham B62, a track-focused supercar with 720bhp per tonne from its naturally-aspirated V8.
That 5.4 litre V8 is in a car with a dry weight of just 972kg, so the new Brabham will have plenty of power at its disposal and an impressive 1200kg of downforce available, which should make it very sticky where it’s aiming to be – on track.
The teaser image for the BT62 (above) shows the back of the car with thin LED lights reflecting on the BT62’s thumping great back wing on a car expected to sport a ‘Le Mans’ silhouette to match its performance potential.
Brabham say the BT62 has an aggressive aerodynamic package, carbon/carbon six-pot brakes front and rear and will set blistering lap times.
Already on sale for £1.2 million in the UK, the BT62 may be a track-focussed beast, but rumour has it the 70 units being produced will actually be road-legal, so owners won’t just have to attend the BT62’s track events to get behind the wheel, but can blat to the pub on Sunday morning for big bragging points.
Set to be revealed on 2 May in London, the BT62 will get its first public outing a few days later in London at an exhibition of Brabham’s former racing cars and memorabilia. If you want to be there then jump over to www.brabhamautomotive.com/exhibition to grab tickets.
