Bugatti Bordeaux – a 4-door Veyron?

The Bugatti Event Invitation - Are Bugatti about to announce the Bugatti Bordeaux - a four-door supercar?

There’s been speculation ever since Bugatti first launched the Veyron that it would just be the start of a series of incredible performance and luxury cars to come from the marque. We reported quite recently on the speculation that Bugatti were going to produce a Bugatti Royale for the 21st century – a mega-performing four-door saloon. But that speculation has been around for as long as the Veyron.

But now there is new speculation. We received in our inbox a scan of an invitation sent out to a Veyron owner for a special event Bugatti are planning to mark their centenary, which seems to show a very low-res four-door Bugatti – if you squint hard. But Autoexpress are claiming that this is in fact a new Bugatti – The Bugatti Bordeaux.

According to Autoexpress the Bugatti Bordeaux will get an Avant type body with horseshoe lights at the back. It will feature Bugatti’s immnese 1000bhp engine from the Veyron, this time mounted up-front. Which would mean a four-door saloon car capable of 0-60mph in about 3 seconds. That should keep the passengers in the back awake.

Something has got to happen at Bugatti before long. The Veyron hasn’t got that long left to live (just 300 Bugatti Veyron Coupes and 150 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sports are being built) and they need something to replace it. But our guess is that even if this is a new Bugatti, it’s goung to be a year or two before it hits the showrooms. Bugattis are not flying out fo the door at the moment (although Bugatti won’t reduce the prices to make that happen) and they have slowed production to one car every eight weeks – instead of one a month – to keep the flow of Bugattis level with sales.

Guess we’ll have to wait until September to see how much truth there is in the rumours.
