The Bugatti Chiron will officially replace the Veyron as the world’s greatest modern supercar, with a debut for the Chiron at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
We’ve expected the much anticipated replacement for the mighty Bugatti Veyron will be called the Chiron, and today Bugatti confirms the name and the debut – the Bugatti Chiron will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The Chiron name is to honour Louis Chiron, Bugatti’s racing driver in the 1920s and ’30s – proclaimed as the greatest driver of his time – and a driver said to be more closely linked with Bugatti’s history than any other.
So that’s the new name out of the way, but what about the car?
As you’d expect, the Chiron is going to be the Veyron with the dial turned up to 11, with more power, better aerodynamics, a more extreme design and, as Bugatti say:
With the Chiron, Bugatti will continue to produce the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car. The Bugatti Chiron is currently being shown to selected customers and the feedback is outstanding; more than 100 orders have already been received
So Bugatti seem to be on to a winner already with the Chiron, with the 100 orders they already have on the books representing almost 25 per cent of the total Veyrons sold in a decade.
Chiron owners can look forward to a Bugatti with even more power than the Veyron, with expectations that the Veyron’s 8.0 litre W16 will produce up to 1500bhp in the Chiron – it’s though with electrical help to achieve that number – although Bugatti say it will still be a car you can drive every day despite expectations it will once again be the fastest production car in the world.
No doubt, between now and the Chron’s debut at Geneva next year, we’ll start to be drip-fed details of exactly what the new Bugatti Supercar will deliver.
