Chrysler Delta arriving at UK dealers – Chrysler Ypsilon arrives September

Chrysler Delta - now arriving in UK dealers

Chrysler UK are starting to get the Chrysler Delta to UK dealers ahead of a launch - along with Chrysler Ypsilon – in September.

There’s a long history of Lancia in the UK being associated with grief. So much so that Lancia left the UK market altogether in 1994. But now it’s on the way back, although you wouldn’t know it from the badges on the cars which herald that return – the Chrysler Delta and the Chrysler Ypsilon.

Arriving at UK dealers already is the Chrysler Delta, ahead of a joint press launch with the Ypsilon at the end of September.

The UK Delta is every inch the Lancia Delta with changes that amount to nothing more than a badge swap. Frankly, we’d much rather have seen the Lancia back as a Lancia, but that would have meant a whole new dealer network was needed. So Chrysler Delta it is.

We’ll make no comment on how either the Delta or the Ypsilon drive as we’ve had no chance to do so yet (although the Ypsilon is basically a Fiat 500 and the Delta a Fiat Bravo, so it’s going to be reasonable), so just for a change we won’t profer an opinion, just facts (well, mostly).

The Chrysler Delta comes with a selection of 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 litre MultiJet and MultiAir engines and a six-speed manual ‘box. All Deltas come with VDC and DST which is said by Chrysler to “…guarantee perfect control of the car and absolute stability in all driving condition”. Big claims.

Trim levels on the Delta are S, SE, SR and Limited, with even the entry-level S offering CD/MP3, power mirrors, Fogs with cornering, Keyless entry, AirCon, Privacy and electric boot release. At the top end – the Chrysler Delta Limited -expect such goodies as Climate, SatNAv, Leather everywhere, 17″ alloys and parking sensors.

We have no prices or real performance and technical data as Chrysler want to save up the Delta info to do a two-hander launch with the Chrysler Ypsilon in September.

But we thought we’d stick up a Chrysler Delta Photo Gallery and some engine data for the Lancia Delta – which won’t be a million miles out.

And more on the Chrysler Ypsilon when it starts to hit UK dealers.

  1. The Delta is not exactly the prettiest car on sale, is it?
