Citroen DS Wild Rubis tease previews new DS SUV (video)

Citroen are teasing what appears to be a DS SUV ahead of the Shanghai Motor Show later in April – the Citroen Wild Rubis Concept.

With French car makers suffering from a downturn in sales in recent years, one beacon of light has been the success of the resurrected DS badge to adorn a range of more upmarket Citroens.

From initial scepticism when Citroen revealed their plans to re-badge and titivate mainstream Citroens with some DS history, we were won over by the brilliant DS3 which managed to turn the rather beige C3 in to a properly appealing – and properly fun – sporty hatch.

Citroen has since gone on to build the DS4 and DS5, and it now looks like they’re heading in to proper SUV / Crossover territory with the tease for a car that appears to be exactly that – a DS SUV.

Likely to be called the DS-X when it arrives, the concept is the Wild Rubis, and Citroen has today released a single tease photo (above) and a tease video (below) which gives us a few clues.

Unless we’re mistaken, Widl Rubis is a high-riding DS with a new grill and a new take on the ‘DS’ badge on the front and certainly seems to be a crossover or SUV of some description, although with little perspective in the video it’s hard to judge whether the Wild Rubis is compact, mid-sized or full size.

But with the Shanghai Motor Show a little over two weeks away we should know more before long.
