Ferrari 458 Italia UK price

The Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari has officially released UK prices for the 458 Italia

Ferrari has officially announced the 458 Italia will start at £169,545 in the UK. The California rises to £143,325.

We’ve been here before back in October when we published UK prices for the Ferrari 458 Italia. Of course they weren’t completely official as Ferrari hadn’t released them. They looked to be a leaked document but seemed pretty authentic to us.

And we still think the price list from last year was genuine, it’s just that Ferrari has had a tweak with its UK pricing before officially releasing the details. Our price list back in October showed the 458 coming in at £175k. The release from Ferrari now sets the UK starting price at £169,545. Frankly, if you’re up for a 458 the £5k difference won’t change anything.

What has happened though is exactly what we said would some time ago. Ferrari has shot itself in the foot financially with the California and needs to up the price. Instead of stealing sales from high-end Porsches and Mercedes as Ferrari hoped, the California has mainly stolen sales from the F430. Not good for Ferrari’s bottom line.

That will change for a while in the glow of the new 458, but the price rise for the California for 2010 – now up to £143k - effectively puts it above where the outgoing F430 was. Just as we predicted a year ago.

Still, you can consider the 458 Italia something of a bargain if you try hard enough. It actually undercuts the 430 Scuderia yet offers more performance.

Another good reason to buy the 458 Italia.
