The Ferrari 812 Superfast arrives as Ferrari’s new flagship, gaining an extra 20bhp over the F12 tdf, hitting 211mph and 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds.
Back in late 2015, the Ferrari F12 tdf arrived as the extreme take on Ferrari’s flagship F12, but now it’s being usurped by this – the new Ferrari 812 Superfast.
Under the bonnet of Ferrari’s new extreme flagship lurks the familiar V12, but this time round it churns out a mammoth 789bhp (which is about what LaFerrari has without its electrickery) and 529lb/ft of torque at 7,000rpm.
Despite the extra power Ferrari are quoting its performance figures as 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds and 211mph – the same as the F12 tdf.
Where the Superfast differs from the tdf is with the arrival of electronic power steering – as well as the clever four-wheel steering from the F12tdf – which should make the Superfast super nimble. That Will be helped by Ferrari’s fifth generation Side Slip Control.
The 812 looks a lot busier than the F12, with its double headlights, double tail lights, big air intakes, active aerodynamic flaps and a red diffuser at the back.
Inside its titivation time for the instruments and steering wheel – which is as busy as ever – but the feeling is still F12, just updated F12.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast will debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show, and although Ferrari has not yet come up with a price for their new flagship you can be sure it’ll be the wrong side of £250,000 – and a great deal more once you start ticking boxes (and even more if you make up your own boxes).
