Fiat are to bring a Ferrari tribute 500 to Frankfurt – the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari – with uprated engine and suspension.
Update 12/9/09: Fiat has now confirmed that the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari is real and will be at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We’ve updated with details and a full gallery of pictures of the Tributo Ferrari, and the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari Press Release.
We’ve had quite a flurry of Fiat 500 activity this year. There’s been the launch of the Fiat 500C (complete with Elle Macpherson – no bad thing) and we’ve coveted the Abarth 500 as a great pocket rocket – in particular the EsseEsse version with a heap of extra horses.
And earlier this year we speculated – whilst looking at the Abarth 500 – that it would make a great courtesy car for Ferrari and other Supercar makers. Well it looks like Ferrari and Fiat were listening (as if!) as we’ve heard today that there is to be a special Fiat 500 coming to Frankfurt – the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari.
The 695 Tributo Ferrari will – of course – be painted in Maranello’s favourite shade of red, and sport a nicely sorted 1.4 litre turbo with 180bhp. Also on offer will be a six-speed paddle-shift, upgraded suuspension and a set of meaty,Ferrari Red Brembos. And holding up each corner are a new set of alloys with historical Ferrari design cues.
Inside the 695 Tributo Ferrari gets some luxury Ferrar-style leather on carbon fibre shells, with red inserts to match the exterior livery.
No word on price yet, but it will be £20k plus.
Still, the cheapest new ‘Ferrari’ bar none.
