Fiat has released detail of the 2010 Fiat Doblo, with 8 variants offering up to 7 seats and prices from £12,295. On sale March 2010.
Fiat’s Postman Pat-mobile – the Fiat Doblo – has been with us for a decade, in which time Fiat have managed to shift an impressive 1 million units. Which ain’t bad for an ugly box on wheels that has all the aesthetic joy of a Monk Fish. But just like the Monk Fish, the real deal is at the back.
The Doblo has always been about shifting ‘Stuff’ – be that ‘Stuff’ people or objects – in a practical and affordable way. The new 2010 Fiat Doblo – which goes on sale this month – aims to capitalise on what the Doblo does well and to offer a range of flexible options and models to suit the needs of a buyer more interested in practicality than aesthetics.
The 2010 Doblo is a reworking of the original Doblo but based on the Punto Evo to improve space, comfort and refinement. It may not look at first glance massively different to the old Doblo, but this new model carries over just 3% of its parts from the old car.
The whole point of the Doblo is its room, and the 2010 Doblo offers a 790 litre boot which can extend to 3200 litres with all then seat down. A total of eight versions of the Doblo will be on offer with seating for up to seven and prices starting at £12,295.
Engines on offer are the 1.6 and 2.0 litre turbodiesels and the 1.4 litre petrol. All engine options get Start&Stop and the irritating ’Change-Up’ indicator light to keep the Doblo the right side of thirsty. Not surprisingly, with so much choice, Fiat has plenty to say, so check out the 2010 Fiat Doblo press release for more details.
Pretty it isn’t. Practical – and affordable – it is.
