Ford are planning hybrid and plug-in versions of the new C-MAX
Ford are planning on introducing a hybrid (C-MAX HEV) and a plug-in (C-MAX PHEV) version of the new C-MAX by 2013.
Ford have been concentrating on bringing their current business back from the edge of the abyss for the last year or two, so their plans to join the headlong rush by car makers in to hybrid tech has inevitably been less of a high priority than for some. But it looks like things are starting to move down the eco route for the Blue Oval.
Ford has announced plans for a full hybrid version of the new Ford C-Max by 2013 – to be built in Valencia (Spain) following an investment of €300 million in C-MAX production – and a plug-in hybrid version.
Both the C-MAX HEV (Hybrid) and the C-MAX PHEV (Plug-in) will add to the currently limited range of Fords utilising eco tech. They are currently an all electric Transit Connect and the Focus BEV, which we expect to see as a derivative of the 2011 Ford Focus at some point.
As well as the mainstream C-MAX hybrid stuff we’re pretty sure that Ford will be offering a 2011 Focus RS Hybrid even sooner than the C-MAX Hybrids.
The new Ford C-MAX and Ford Grand C-MAX go on sale later this year.
