Honda Civic Type R axed

The Honda Civic Type R ends in the UK

Honda has revealed that sales of the Honda Civic Type R for the UK will end in December 2010.

The current generation of the Honda Civic Type R is coming to an end in the UK, a victim of Euro 5 emission rules which come in to force in 2011. It seems that with a new Civic due in the next couple of years Honda has decided to retire the Type R rather than tweak its 2.0 litre VTEC lump to comply with the new regulations.

All of which means that the Civice Type R will stop production in October and the last sales of the Type R will be made in December, signalling the end of a more than 12,000 run of the current Type R in the UK.

Although production is ending for European sales, Honda will continue making the Type R in Swindo for export to markets such as Australia where emissions regulations haven’t yet deemed it illegal.

If you want to grab one of the last Type Rs Honda are offering £2230 of a Civic Type R GT and a bunch of favourable finance offers across the Type R range.

This Type R may not have lived up to the reputation of its predecessor, but £2,230 off list is not a bad offer.
