Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 revealed

The Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200

Honda has revealed the limited edition Civic Type R Mugen 200

Honda has revealed the Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200, a limited edition of the Civic Type R with a Mugen body kit and limited slip diff. On sale March 2010.

Back in October Mugen announced that there would, after all, be a Euro version of the Mugen Honda Civic Type R. But only in limited numbers – just 20 cars hand-built by Mugen in the UK. This Mugen Civic Type R gets some much-needed mechanical and supension fettling, but costs a somewhat hefty £38.5k.

Now we have the announcement of the Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 (guess how many of these they’re building) which is all about the show, not the go. But Mugen are adding a limited slip diff to help with traction, so there’s a little bit of fettling of the less than ideal Type R setup.

The core of the Mugen 200 is the aesthetics with new bumpers with skirts, a set of 19″ ”Lightening’ alloys, a Mugen ‘Limited Edition’ plaque, Mugen badging and a ‘Championship White’ paint job with gloss black mirrors. There will also be a set of options allowing owners to tweak the chassis as dealer fit options.

For existing owners of the Type R, Honda has also revealed that a number of their dealers will be stocking a range of Mugen tuning parts, body kits and interior mods from April. The paint job of the Mugen Type R 200 will also be used by Honda’s BTCC team for 2010 where two Civics sporting a similar paint job will compete.

The order book for the Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 will be opening next month. No prices have been revealed yet so the best guess is somewhere around the £32k mark.

The problem seems to have been sorted out, Stratstone replaced all the 5 relays on the engine management control board no problems since Dec 2010. Only problem at the moment is the rear parking sensors installed by stratstone are intemittently sensing all the time when reverse is seleted, hopefully I can get this problem sorted by Stratstone shortly. We purchased a Honda Mugen 200 in june 2010 & have had endless problems with starting the engine when pressing the start button the display just comes up with a message to check engine management system it has been back to the main dealers Stratstone Honda in Leeds 3 times & they have failed to find the fault it keeps reoccuring. The last time it happened for some reason the engine started to crank over but still would not start, AA attended again & found the inersia trip under the dashboard had tripped. The car is currently at the Stratstone workshops again. There seems to be a real problem that no one has yet located. Has anyone any idears please. Alec a very disgruntled Honda Mugen owner
