Hyundai HED-6 proper images surface

After yet more teasing last week on the Hyundai HED-6 concept, Hyundai has done the decent thing and released an actual image. Yippee!

I shouldn’t complain really, as all these trickles of information do give us something to write about on a quiet day, but I do in some ways long for the days when cars were announced with all the information to take in in one go. Ah, well. I guess that’s just how the game is played now.

The Hyundai HED-6 - The next Tuscon or i35i

The Hyundai HED-6 is a pretty smart looking car. Yet another very European style Hyundai, which is no real surprise as it was designed by Hyundai’s European design division in Germany. The move in this direction (just as with the recent Hyundai i20) shows how determined Hyundai is to take on the best of the Japanese brands in Europe.

In reality, the HED-6 is a next generation Hyundai Tucson in all but name, which looks like it’s going to become the Hyundai i35 when it arrives later this year. But it’s a darn sight more stylish and appealing.

The HED-6 is designed to be a sort of all purpose urban vehicle, combining the best of a city runaround, an SUV and an estate in one car. In Hyundai-speak it’s “an Urban Nomad” with “Cultural influences from European cities”. So there!

More details from Geneva next month.
