The Polish love a Jag!

The Jaguar Club Poland is holding a meeting in Nottingham in November – the first in the UK.

Update: Due to logistical problems, the Jaguar Club Poland has had to cancel the event due to take place the weekend of 21st November. They are re-scheduling for a Summer 2010 event, and we’ll let you know when dates have been conformed.

The Polish community in the UK has grown massively in the last few years. Which has inevitably meant that they’ve come in for criticism. They’re taking our jobs. They’re scamming the benefits. The headlines from the tabloids all seem to be on the same theme. But actually, it’s rubbish.

In every race there is good and bad. But I wouldn’t mind betting there are far more (in percentage terms) UK born benefit scammers than there are Polish. And in my experience the Polish worker is a hard worker. And a conscientious one.  And they’re a brave bunch too. Look what the Poles did fighting for the allies in the last war. True, there won’t be any Polish workers in the UK that fought in the last war. But a sense of duty and commitment is in the genes. In many ways the Polish remind me of the Irish. I have Irish and Polish friends. Good guys one and all – and always up for the craic.

So it was great to hear that not only is there a lively Polish community in the UK, but they’re embracing good old British loves as well. Like Jaguars. They have a passion for Jaguars. And none more so than the Jaguar Club Poland.

A sign of how established the Polish community has become in the UK is the news that the Polish Jaguar Club are holding a meeting in the UK this month – 21-22 November in Nottingham. Not just a gathering of a few Polish guys with a passion for Jags, but a fully fledged car meeting with cars, competitions, prizes, a Saturday night party and a Sunday night dinner. These guys don’t do things by halves.

But don’t run away with the idea that only Polish are welcome. Far from it. The Jaguar Club Poland has ties with the Jaguar Enthusiast Club in the UK and will welcome anyone who has a love for Jaguars and wants a fun couple of days.
