The most powerful F-Type yet – the Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe – has been caught on video testing at the Nurburgring as it aims to take on the 911 Turbo S.
The Jaguar F-Type R is an appealing, snorting, good-looking, powerful car, but it’s set to be eclipsed as Jaguar’s most potent car when this arrives – the Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe.
Caught pounding round the Nurburgring – and sounding like Thor in the process – the F-Type SVR has a much more aggressive body kit – clearly discernible despite its de rigueur swirly camouflage – with a new back wing, much bigger air intakes at the front and new diffuser at the rear.
Under the skin, the F-Type SVR is sporting Jaguar’s 5.0 litre Supercharged engine, but here it’s expected to eclipse even the output of the Project 7 car, with something very close to 600bhp expected.
To tame that 600bhp, Jaguar will fit ceramic brakes as standard, and the F-Type will also come with 4WD to make sure it can put its power down.
Jaguar are clearly hoping to take on the Porsche 911 Turbo (and maybe even the 911 Turbo S) with the new F-Type SVR which, apart from the power and 4WD, probably means pricing in the same region – approaching £150k.
There’s a chance we may see the F-Type SVR at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but whether that happens or not we do expect it to be on sale next year (2016).
