The Aston Martin DB10 – specially created for the new James Bond SPECTRE film – is highlighted in a new video from AML as the SPECTRE debut nears.
Despite Ian Fleming originally putting James Bond in a 1933 Bentley convertible, the film franchise has seen Bond’s cars being only really special when they’re a product from Aston Martin (and, to be fair, even Fleming had Bond in a DB III in the Goldfinger novel).
We’ve had the original Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger (and appearances in Casino Royale, the World is not Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies), a DBS in OHMSS, a V8 Vantage Volante in Living Daylights, a Vanquish in Die Another Day, a DBS in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace and Skyfall and now, with SPECTRE due to be released shortly, we get the most unique bond car – the Aston Martin DB10.
Aston Martin has created just 10 DB10s for the Bond franchise, and have no plans to make a production model (the next DB car is likely to be the DB11), but that’s not stopping AML highlighting the DB10 in a new video (below).
But although the DB10 won’t be a production reality, it does point towards Aston’s future styling direction, despite appearing to be powered by Vantage underpinnings, with a lower, but still distinct, AML grill, sharper lines than we’re used to, short overhangs and a look that looks more aggressive than elegant. Let’s hope Aston Martin manage to retain elegance in the DB11’s design despite these pointers.
The Aston Martin DB10 will be front an central in SPECTRE when it permieres on 26 October 2015.
