Jeremy Clarkson takes a break from creating a new ‘Top Gear’ for Amazon Prime with Hammond and May to explain Amazon’s Prime Air delivery drone plans.
The deal Jeremy Clarkson (and Richard Hammond and James May) managed to do with Amazon Prime to deliver a new Top Gear after Jeremy’s ‘fracas’ is reckoned to be worth £160 million, with a big chunk of the budget going in to the pockets of the three former Top Gear presenters.
But a deal that’s so lucrative clearly doesn’t come without many strings attached, and it seems getting Clarkson to promote Amazon’s products and services is part of the deal.
We’ve already seen Jeremy promoting Amazon’s Fire Stick (and having a little dig at the BBC in the process) and now he’s back again, this time promoting Amazon Prime Air delivery service using drones to deliver your order in quick sticks.
Amazon aren’t rolling out their drone delivery service just yet, but they reckon they will be able to take your order, package it up, get it in a drone and fly it to you – up to 15 miles away – in around 30 minutes.
It all sounds a bit fanciful, fraught with potential problems and likely to be available only to those who live close to an Amazon depot, but with pockets deep enough the problems will probably be overcome.
In the meantime, what will Amazon have Jeremy promoting next? And are Hammond and May lined up to don their salesman’s hat for Amazon too?
