Lada has revealed an appealing looking compact SUV concept at the Moscow Motor Show – the Lada XRAY Concept
For those of us who grew up on Lada skips – and even for younger readers who only really know Lada for the Niva 4×4 or the Granta – the appearance of a good-looking Lada Concept - the Lada XRAY – at the Moscow Motor Show is a bit of a surprise.
But if we look at who’s behind the XRAY, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised. Steve Mattin, formerly with Mercedes and Volvo, penned the new Lada, and a very convincing job he’s done.
Gone are the angular, dated looks of Lada to be replaced by a rounded and convincing design, complete with a new nose that forms an ‘X’ on the nose, a new face Lada say will start to appear on their cars.
Inside the XRAY is equally convincing, with a contemporary look sporting high quality leather and trim with a bold infotainment screen and what looks like a decent amount of room.
Lada are calling the XRAY a concept, but it looks highly likely that the XRAY is a preview of a new production model from Lada. And if it is, we may have to evaluate Lada’s offerings, especially if it’s as good to drive as it is to look at.
