Lamborghini Jota: The tease begins

The Lamborghini Jota Tease

Lamborghini are teasing the Murcielago’s replacement – the Lamborghini Jota – with the most pointless tease image we’ve seen.

How could we have a new car these days without having to suffer an interminable tease? Jaguar took the drawn-out tease to new heights last year with the new XJ tease and it seems that we can’t have a release any more without getting fed bizarre imagery and ‘spy’ video. But Lamborghini look set to make the tease even more ‘un-informing’ than before.

The picture you see above is the tease Lamborghini has sent us for the Murcielago’s replacement, which we all expect to be the Lamborghini Jota. It shows a badge on a bonnet. I think we knew it would have a bonnet and a badge, but I suppose now we’re certain.

And car makers have got used to us shoving their teaser images in to Photoshop to reveal more than they want. Lamborghini have made sure there is nothing in this image apart from what you actually see.

So despite Lamborghini’s reluctance to tell us anything meaningful, what do we know of the Jota? Well, it will get a new aluminium spaceframe which will make it a featherweight in comparison to the Murcielago. Its V12 will deliver 700bhp which – couple with some serious weight shedding – should see the Jota break the 3 second 0-60 barrier. And it will spawn a halo car – the Lamborghini URUS – which will take on the Ferrari Enzo. And the Jota, at least, should turn up at the Paris Motor Show in September.

But all Lamborghini want us to know – at this stage – is that the Murcielago’s replacement has a bonnet. And a badge.

I think you are getting a bit precious, its a slow reveal, you know you wont see it until Paris, get a grip.
