The Land Rover Defender 2,000,000 will be on display at the Defender Heritage exhibition at Bonhams on 15-16 December ahead of its auction for charity.
Back in the summer, the Land Rover Defender 2,000,00- was revealed to celebrate the Defender (and the Land Rover Series which preceded it), and to create an iconic celebratory model as the Defender ended production at the end of 2015.
Now the one-off Defender is heading for auction at Bonhams in London – with all proceeds going to the Red Cross, Red Crescent and Born Free Foundation – but before that the Defender will be on show at a Defender Heritage Exhibition at Bonhams on 15 and 16 December.
The exhibition celebrates getting on for 70 years of Land Rover production at Solihull, and includes a hall of fame depicting the Land Rover’s links with fame in Hollywood – think James Bond – and celebrated world figures like Winston Churchill and The Queen, as well as the Defender’s role in humanitarian work and with the Born Free Foundation.
Visitors will also be able to share their Defender stories on a wall to capture the moment Land Rover impacted their lives, and Roger Crathorne – ‘Mr Land Rover’ – will be on hand to talk to visitors.
If you love the Land Rover Defender – and the preceding Series I, II and III – Bonhams will be a good place to be, and if your pockets are deep you could put your hand up for the one-off Defender 2,000,000 on the 16th.
What is the Land Rover Defender 2,000,000?
As a reminder, the Defender special was put together at Solihull to celebrate the Defender milestone, with help from a cast of workers including Bear Grylls, Virginia McKenna and Theo Paphitis – just three of a group of 33.
The Defender gets ‘Red Wharf Bay‘ graphics (where the Series I was first imagined), Santorini Black alloys, 2,000,000 badging, Silver Satin paint job, leather seats and a plaque signed by all the celebratory workforce. Land Rover has even given it the registration number S90 HUE as a nod to the original Series Land Rover’s HUE 166 number plate.
