Lexus LFA Hybrid in the works?

The Lexus LF-A in the Lexus dealership in Park Lane - will a hybrid version join the club?

Lexus look as if they are testing a hybrid version of the Lexus LFA hypercar after spy shots of a camouflaged LFA have surfaced

There’s us thinking that the Lexus LFA was a shining beacon of non-hybrid sense in a sea of otherwise total hybrid obsession at Lexus. But even the LFA looks like it may be heading down the ‘Green’ route.

SEMA have run a story this week showing a spy picture of a camouflaged Lexus taken very recently (have a look at the story here – we can’t run the picture as it’s not ours). Now you may well ask yourself why on earth Lexus would be running a camouflaged LFA around when the world and its dog have seen not just photos and video of the LFA but can pop down to Park Lane and have a shufty at the LFA for themselves.

So the conclusion is that Lexus are trialing a hybrid LFA. Which sadly makes a lot of sense. Especially if they can get a jump on Porsche who seem set to produce the 918 Spyder Hybrid after getting almost enough interest in a hybrid hypercar.

Still, we have to confess this is one hybrid we won’t mock, especially if it drives as well as its conventionally-driven, V10, non-hybrid sibling is said to.

And no, we still haven’t got to have a go.
