The Lexus RC 300h F Sport Black Edition is revealed as a special edition Lexus RC Coupe, complete with interior and exterior styling inspired by Sumi Ink.
The ‘Black Edition’ take on cars as a limited edition to get more punters in to showrooms is a well-trodden patch for car makers. But Lexus has put a slightly different spin on their new Black Edition RC.
The Lexus RC 300h F Sport Black Edition does get an all encompassing ‘Black’ makeover, but this isn’t just any black, it’s Sumi Ink black.
Sumi Ink is a dense black ink used for centuries in Japan for brush painting and calligraphy, and it influences the new Black Edition both inside and out.
The starting point is the very well-specced RC 300h F Sport, with the Black edition adding a dark chrome finish for the spindle grille, as do the new LED Fogs, the 19″ F Sport alloys have a matt Black and Bright Machined contrast finish, the window surrounds are black stainless steel and the paint job is Graphite Black.
Inside, there’s smooth black leather with orange stitching, wood inserts stained with Sumi Ink and black headlining.
The Black Edition comes with the F Sport Premier Pack spec – everything from Mark Levinson Sound to Premium Sat Nav and Lexus Safety System+ to LED Headlights – and the same 220bhp 2.5 litre petrol hybrid powertrain.
The Lexus RC 300h F Sport Black Edition will get a debut at Geneva next week and goes on sale in the UK on 1 May 2018. It costs from £45,165.
