Lexus has issued a single front-on photo of the 2012 GS ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
We’re looking forward to the 2012 Lexus GS because it seems as though Lexus finally accepts that their cars need to offer more than stunning build quality and a green halo. They need to appeal to the emotions. And the 2012 GS looks like it might.
It looks like it might because those who’ve driven the 2012 Lexus GS have told us that it is a quantum leap on in dynamics from the current GS. And the current GS is the most emotional of the current crop of Lexus models to drive because it offers proper performance.
It is really the only Lexus product – apart from the LFA and the IS-F – that offers a real driving experience. Yes, it’s a bit of a point and squirt job as it’s a bit bloaty through the bends. But at least it can squirt out thanks to decent performance from its hybrid setup (although we still don’t rate its rubber-band ‘box).
So the promise that the new GS is hugely better than the current GS is great news. As is the realisation that the production 2012 GS is expected to be very close to the LF-Gh concept. And that expectation is now a reality with the first teaser shot of the production 2012 GS ahead of Frankfurt.
That image is at the top, but the one at the side (click it for a full size version) is of the shot at the top played with in Photoshop, alongside a very similar shot of the LF-Gh Concept. Yes, the GS is a little toned-down from the LF-Gh Concept – but not by much.
It’s looking very promising.
