Lotus confirms the Lotus Evora S and Lotus Evora Auto for Paris, plus probably the new Lotus Esprit and Lotus Evora Convertible too.
In what appears almost certainly a publicity stunt, Lotus has ‘accidentally’ confirmed that two of its reveals at the Paris Motor Show in a month or so’s time will be the Lotus Evora S – the Supercharged Evora – and an auto ‘box for the Evora; all the better to move metal in the States.
Which is hardly big news, whatever Lotus would like us to think. As long ago as May last year (2009) we reported that there would be a Lotus Evora Supercharged – possibly with as much as 400bhp from the Toyota V6 – by 2011 and a paddle shift auto ‘box option.
The ‘Leaked’ email purports to be one sent by Lotus PR bod Kevin Smith to Lotus PR Manager Alastair Florence asking if the Evora S and Evora Auto would be shown at the Paris Motor Show. He got a ‘Reply’ which said ‘Yes, the Evora S and Evora Auto will be on the stand in Paris alongside the new car(s) not yet announced (let’s maintain the mystery for now!).’
This email was then supposedly ‘accidently’ copied out to the world’s automotive media, followed up by a request to embargo its contents. Yeah, right. Clumsy stunt.
And what are the new car(s) clumsily referred to by Lotus? No doubt they will be the new Lotus Esprit and the Lotus Evora Convertible.
I think I prefer the photo tease to this. And that’s saying something.
