The Maserati GranCabrio will cost £96,630 in the UK
Maserati has priced the GranCabrio (Gran Turismo Convertible outside Europe) at £95,630. Orders are being taken now and first cars will be delivered in April 2010.
We had the official launch of Maserati’s GranCabrio at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September, and an elegant looking convertible it is. Maserati brought the GranCabrio to London last month for the UK debut, but there where still one or two things we didn’t know, in particular price and performance.
Price is easy – it will be £95,630 when it hits the roads in the UK in April 2010. Which is not exactly a killer. And if you want one in time for the 3 days of sunshine we get next Summer you can already dash out to your local Maserati dealer and place your order (or go play with the GranCabrio Configurator). You can even partake of Maserati’s Personalisation programme which will let you choose 14 exterior colours, six shades for the soft top and an extra couple of colours for the leather – Bianco Polare (white) and Blu Profondità (dark blue). So you should be able to make your GranCabrio ‘Yours’ without too much trouble.
Of course, as we reported recently, if you’re outside Europe you won’t be buying the GranCabrio. For reasons best known to Maserati the GranCabrio will be know outside Europe as the Gran Turismo Convertible. There must be a logic to the name change, but we can’t figure it.
And the other thing we also know about the GranCabrio is its performance. Maserati had already told us it would reach 175mph, but hadn’t bothered to tell us how quickly it accelerated. Which lead us to believe it would be a bit on the sluggish side (it’s quite heavy) and we’d guessed at mid 5 seconds. Turns out it’s 5.4 seconds (to 62mph) which is more than enough in a Cabrio.
Particularly for your back seat passengers.
