The Mazda MX-5 Z-Sport is a limited edition – just 300 cars – and the latest ‘special’ MX-5, complete with a Cherry Red fabric roof and Sand Leather.
The Mazda MX-5 is the world’s best-selling sports car – with good reason – so Mazda are going to have no trouble flogging the just 300 examples of their latest limited edition MX-5 – the MX-5 Z-Sport.
To be honest, the revival of the Z-Sport monicker doesn’t mean anything particularly special for the limited edition, with mostly just superficial titivations on offer.
The starting point for the Z-Sport is the 2.0 litre Sport Nav, but it is the first MX-5 for the UK to get the revised suspension and steering all the MX-5 models in the UK will get in 2018.
That means a retune for the rear suspension and a tweak for the steering to deliver a better driving experience, although there’s no more power from the 158bhp petrol engine and the six-speed manual gearbox remains.
Apart from the mechanical updates, the Z-Sport comes with a Machine Grey metallic paint job with a contrasting Cherry Red fabric roof, as well as 16-spoke 17″ BBS alloys, a combination exclusive the Z-Sport.
Inside, Mazda has thrown Sand Leather on to the seats, doors and the bottom of the dash, a plaque on the dash to denote build number and some ‘Z-Sport’ motifs on the mats and scuff plates.
Jeremy Thomson, Mazda Motors UK MD, said:
We’ve had a long tradition of producing distinctive limited edition MX-5s that allow customers to drive a sports car with stand-out looks and enhanced equipment, and the new Z-Sport is one of the best yet.
The stunning combination of the cherry red roof and Machine Grey Metallic paint make this one of the most exclusive looking MX-5s we’ve ever offered and I’m sure it will be a very popular choice when it arrives in dealerships next March
It’s a good-looking combination for the MX-5, and at £25,595 it’s only a bit over £1k more than the Sport Nav – so why wouldn’t you?
