There are just 500 McLaren Senna models being built, and all are sold. But those buying can opt for a ‘Carbon Theme’ from McLaren Special Operations for an extra £300,000.
The McLaren Senna was revealed just before Christmas as a new Ultimate Series McLaren (like the P1), very much focussed on the track and looking more extreme than any road-legal McLaren before.
With 789bhp and weighing in at a slim 1198kg – with extreme aerodynamics too – the McLaren Senna is being built to be the ultimate track warrior that just happens to be road legal.
McLaren are only building 500 Sennas, with each costing from around £750,000, and all are sold out.
So we assume the reveal of a Carbon Theme for the Senna is all about persuading those 500 buyers that they’d be cheapskates if they just stuck with the standard car when they could stump up ‘just’ another £300k to get a Carbon Theme.
That £300k – about the cost of two McLaren 570GTs – showcases the Senna’s carbon panels with a glossy carbon weave on 67 different pieces, Solar Yellow detailing on the sills, back wing and front active aero blades and Laurel Green brake callipers. All very ‘Senna’. Inside there’s bits of Laurel Green, a splash of yellow on the steering wheel and a Senna ‘S’ on the headrest.
There are more options to come for the Senna to tempt owners to part with cash, including a carbon fibre wheel option.
The McLaren Senna Carbon Theme will be showcased on McLaren’s stand at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show next week.
