Getting a menswear specialist to makeover a high end car isn’t the most obvious route to go, but Mercedes say Savile Row’s Spencer Hart shares a creative ethos with the three pointed star, so it’s a natural fit.
The Spencer Hart CLS gets a specially created colour – Nick Hart Midnight Blue – and instead of chrome highlights on the exterior Nick has subtle, dark shades instead. We approve.
Inside, the CLS AMG gets inspiration from ‘The Vault’ at Spencer Hart’s store in Brook Street, a Walnut panelled personal shopping area, and uses specially sourced chocolate brown Italian leather with blue stitching for the upholstery, complete with Spencer Hart logo.
Nick, quite rightly, seems chuffed with his creation. He said:
It seemed a natural fit to work on a car project with Mercedes-Benz. I have always been a fan of the brand and creating something that was uniquely Spencer Hart and ultimately cool as opposed to commercial, has resulted in something that both Spencer Hart and Mercedes-Benz are proud of.
The understated makeover by Nick Hart of the Mercedes CLS AMG Shooting Brake is an appealing one, and Mercedes say it will be available for customers to order.
The whole collaboration is a way to showcase what the AMG Performance Studio can do in the way of personalisation of Mercedes cars for buyers.
Sadly, most who use AMG’s personalisation service won’t have the taste or creativity of Nick Hart.
