The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept S has been revealed as a new take on Mitsubishi’s PHEV Outlander and will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – the plug-in hybrid version of Mitsubishi’s Outlander – is a terrific buy, if not quite a terrific car, with its plug-in hybrid drivetrain making it a very tax-efficient company car and its price – the same as the diesel alternative – a refreshing surprise.
But Mitsubishi are intent on cashing-in on the Outlander PHEV’s success, and earlier this month we got a tease for an Outlander PHEV S which has now been revealed ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.
The PHEV S Concept is billed as a ‘Special Design Package’ for the current model – so, as you’ve already guessed – that means the power remains the same.
But the PHEV S does get a series of cosmetic changes including a new look for the front end with a titivated grill, new headlights and bumper, new lights and chrome at the back and a Platinum white paint job (although there will n o doubt be other colour choices when the S Package makes production).
Inside there’s a black and dark red theme with black wood grain trim and silver highlights, a centre console that looks a bit like a Japanese lacquered box and hand-stitched leather seats.
It’s a convincing makeover for the Outlander PHEV and should help Mitsubishi rake in a few bob more when it goes on offer.
