Hyundai has roped in extreme adventurer and TV presenter Andy Torbet as a Hyundai Brand Ambassador to demonstrate the rugged side of the new Santa Fe.
We have been found guilty of tormenting Hyundai’s UK PR team about their ‘Girly’ PR outings to London Fashion week and Harrods to promote the Hyundai Brand, but we have to confess that this particular PR exercise from Hyundai is anything but girly.
In fact, Hyundai has gone about as far from fluffy stuff as it can by getting extreme adventurer, and sometime TV presenter, Andy Torbet on board as a brand ambassador for Hyundai, and throwing him a new Santa Fe to tackle his rugged adventures.
Andy is busy writing a book about extreme adventures in the UK and is travelling round the country to the UK’s most remote spots, so Hyundai found this a great opportunity to get him in the new Santa Fe as he tackles stuff like rock climbing and exploring flooded mines (and not doubt lots of other butchness too).
Hyundai has also sensibly made sure they make the most of Andy’s adventures to get the message across that the new Santa Fe is a lot more than just a butch-looking SUV for the urban jungle but can also cope with properly rugged terrain too, and have produced a video (below) of Andy exploring the aforementioned flooded mine in Wales.

The large boot is perfect for transporting all of my equipment and it doubles up as a fantastic sleeping compartment when I’m miles away from anywhere. The Santa Fe is also a great counter weight for when I’m abseiling down the side of cliffs!
The shame is we might now have to stop teasing Hyundai PR about their fluffy PR outings, although this could be a one-off sop to the sole male member of Hyundai’s UK team (well done, Ian, for getting this signed-off!).
But we’re sure there will be more fluff to come.
Not heard of this guy before. Is he the poor mans Bear Grills?!
That’s (sort of) one out of my list but I still haven’t heard from Hyundai with a delivery date for my Santa Fe!!
For me this is just as interesting as the other Hyundai stuff. It’s just a different side to the Santa Fe and not gender specific at all.
