Nissan has announced that it will be revealing details and photos of the sub-Qashqai Nissan Juke Crossover on Wednesday, ahead of the public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Nissan revealed at the beginning of January that the Qazana Concept from Geneva ’09 was finally going to see the light of day as a sub-Qashqai Crossover and would be the Nissan Juke. To keep things nice and neat they announced that the Juke would be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show this year, one year on from the Qazana Concept.
But these days it’s all about the tease when it comes to a new car launch. We’ve seen more and more car makers endlessly teasing their new offerings in the run-up to the launch (the latest big-time teaser has been Audi with the A1. In fact we’ve got so bored with that we’re waiting until we have some actual meat before we report again).
Beyond the single teaser picture of the production Juke last month (the same one you see here – it’s all we’ve got) Nissan has resisted the temptation to tease, but they can’t resist any longer. Which is why we got a press release this afternoon dramatically announcing ‘Juke: Nissan’s new Crossover – the Final Countdown’. I think I may prefer the endless tease to self-important press releases.
But no matter, the Juke seems very promising and will be a very big deal for Nissan in Sunderland where it’s being built. Nissan have also confirmed that the Qazana will be making its way across the pond to the US. What on earth our Colonial Cousins will make of something not much bigger than a golf buggy with the aesthetics of a moon buggy we have no idea.
So don’t forget to put a note in your diary; tie a knot in your hankie and bookmark Cars UK. The Nissan Juke will be here by 6pm on Wednesday. Be ready.
