The Nissan LEAF continues its run as the best-selling electric car on the market in the UK and Europe, and was the best-selling car bar none in Norway in 2018.
The fact that the Nissan LEAF is the best selling EV in the UK and Europe is an enduring theme, but it’s one that becomes ever more impressive as more new EVs hit the market.
But, for now at least, the Nissan LEAF keeps its crown as the UK and Europe’s favourite EV with more than 40,000 finding a home in 2018.
But it’s Norway showing the way on EV sales – as it has for some time – with the Nissan LEAF taking the top spot in 2018, not just the top spot for EVs, but the top spot for all car sales.
Despite the big improvements in the new generation Nissan LEAF, Nissan isn’t standing still, with the new LEAF 3.0 adding in stuff like 8.0″ Infotainment with additional connectivity, and the LEAF e+ 3.ZERO Limited Edition offering up a 64kWh battery pack with much increased range too.
Ken Ramirez,, Nissan Senior VP, said:
We can celebrate standout sales success with Norway as an example, as it highlights how the Nissan electric ecosystem has established itself as a sustainable lifestyle choice in a relatively short space of time. With the range now stronger than ever, we look forward to welcoming more customers to EV ownership in the coming months.
But with electric crossovers like the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro EVs, EV offerings on the way from VW and the Tesla Model 3 heading for Europe, 2019 could be more challenging for Nissan’s EV crown. But don’t underestimate Nissan’s desire to keep it.
