The Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs is previewed as a concept which delivers a host of dog-friendly features for the X-Trail SUV. Dog lovers rejoice.
In fact, according to the PFMA, almost a quarter of UK households own a dog, and we wouldn’t mind betting most of them drive. So it’s a huge potential marketplace.
But now it seems Nissan is waking up to the idea, and have built the X-Trail 4Dogs to guage opinion following a bit of fact-finding.
Nissan’s fact-finding revealed that just about every dog owner (99.9%) consider their dog a part of the family, and 98.7% use their car to transport their dog.
Really, Nissan didn’t need to go any further with that research, but they also discovered that 88.9% would buy a car with dog-friendly features, and around 90% of owners transport their dog at least once a week.
The answer to the research is the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs which boasts a bespoke travel space in the boot for a couple of dogs, where the boot has been upholstered in premium wipe-clean leather (we know a few parents of small children who’d like that throughout the car).
Incorporated in the luxury pet space is a pull-out shower and hairdryer for cleaning muddy dogs, a slide-out ramp, luxury bed, no-spill water bowl, dog treat dispenser, integrated drying system, clip-on harness hooks and even a two-way dog-cam.
Dr. Rachel Homeny, a Vet talking head, said:
The features in the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs are really well-considered, and make it perfect for taking pets out in all weathers.
In particular, the wash and dry functionality allows dogs to be dogs, so owners don’t need to worry about messing up the car interior. This is a great concept that caters to the needs of man’s best friend.
It’s just a concept for now, but there’s not a single dog owner here who wouldn’t snap it up.
Well done, Nissan.
