The monster Peugeot 208 T16 Peugeot has built for Pikes Peak gets 875bhp and performance that dwarfs an F1 car. And Sebastian Loeb is impressed.
This year Peugeot are back to take on Pikes Peak in a car they like to describe as a Peugeot 208, but apart from the name it has nothing much more than a passing resemblance to Peugeot’s latest hatchback.
For a start, it has a 3.2 litre twin-turbo V6 that delivers an incredible 875bhp which is enough to get to 62mph in a neck snapping 1.8 seconds and 150mph in an equally unbelievable 7 seconds. It has a central driving position, huge downforce, 4WD and a power to weight ratio that makes the Bugatti Veyron look like a diesel hatchback.
Now, nine time World Rally Champion, Sebastian Loeb, has been behind the wheel of the Red Bull sponsored T16 and has come away, it would seem, completely gobsmacked by the performance on tap. Which says something about just how powerful the 208 T16 is.
Peugeot are making the most of Loeb’s reaction to the T16 in the video below, but even though he’s hardly going to say anything other than how wonderful the T16 is, it’s still going to sprinkle a bit of performance fairy dust on the real world Peugeot 208.
And it is very impressive.
