Peugeot 5008 – UK pricing announced

Peugeot has announced UK pricing and specification for their 5008 MPV, which will arrive in the UK in January 2010.

Peugeot revealed the 5008 MPV back in June, telling all the world that it looked like the TGV train. Whether that is good or bad rather depends on your point of view, but I suppose Peugeot were hoping that a bit of the technical glory that’s attached to the TGV would rub off on the 5008. I doubt it’s as fast – even if it’s almost as roomy – but we’ll let you know if it feels like the perfect place for a fast blast across the French countryside when we drive one. Have my doubts.

The 5008 does look promising though. It features a fair few gadgets to play with, including a heads-up display, distance control and ‘Snow Motion’. It also comes equipped with a big spec media system for rear seat passengers and a pair of SatNavs. It also boasts an impressive 2500 litres of load space with the clever back rows of seats folded down.

Prices start at £16,895 for the entry-level 5008 VTi 120 Active, rising to £23,695 for the top of the range 5008 HDi 163 Auto Exclusive. Engine options are a pair of petrols with either 120bhp or 156bhp and a trio of diesels with 110bhp, 150bhp or 163bhp. All three trim levels – Active, Sport and Exclusive – get the seven seat configuration, ESP, AirCon and Hill Assist. At the top end, the Exclusive throws in such delights as Panoramic roof, 17″ alloys, Heads-up, Climate and Bluetooth.

The Peugeot 500 goes on sale in January in the UK, and seems to offer good value for money. But we’ll let you know once we’ve driven it.
