The Pininfarina PF0, and electric hypercar from the storied Italian car design house, has been revealed to prospective buyers at Pebble Beach, and we get the first actual photo.
We first learnt of the Pininfarina PF0 back in April, when the new Automobile Pininfarina – owned by India’s Mahindra – announced it was building its first car, and that it would be an electric hypercar, with plans for high-end luxury electric SUVs too.
The new PF0 is to be an electric hypercar with underpinnings from Rimac, and it promises a stunning carbon body and something around 1,900bhp to play with.
More updates on the PF0 arrived earlier this month with the news that the PF0 was heading for Pebble Beach to be shown in secret to a select few, and a public debut planned for the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
Now, with the Pebble Beach private reveal complete, Pininfarina feel it’s time for the first photo of their new electric hypercar (above), although it’s more in the form of a tease rather than a reveal.
Luca Borgogno, Pininfarina’s Design Director, said:
Our ambition for PF0 is based on classic Pininfarina principles – to combine elegance and beauty with functional design that defines a new product vision.
PF0 has to stand-out in an emerging sector – beauty and performance to make your heart skip a beat. You can see that impact in the PF0 rear view treatment where the car’s performance potential is functionally defined by dramatic wings, and its beauty highlighted by the overall form – purity and elegance of design has not been lost to the battle for downforce or cooling.
It’s all looking very promising for Pininfarina’s first foray in to actual car production – helped by Mahindra’s deep pockets and Rimac’s electric gubbins – and augers well for future Pininfarina models too.
All will be revealed at Geneva next year – if not before.
