Porsche Boxster Carrera GT lookalike. Seriously sad.

The Porsche Boxster Carrera GT

The Porsche Boxster Carrera GT lookalike. Sort of.

A car dealer in Germany is selling a 1997 Porsche Boxster for £45k because it looks like a Carrera GT. Apparently.

We’ve seen some pretty horrible attempts to make a car look special. We’ve seen the guy in Greece who built his own Hellenic Enzo. We had the pair of hustlers who were building replica Revontons for£13k. And now we have a dealer in Germany with an abomination of a Porsche Boxster for sale.

This particular Porsche Boxster is a 1997 with a fresh German MOT. It’s got a set of 20″ alloys and the dealer wants a rather strong £45k for the car. Which is about £40k more than it’s worth. And why is it so expensive? Because it looks just like a Carrera GT. To a blind man in a blizzard.

Now you have to remember that the Carrera GT is a glorious V10 Hypercar from Porsche, and the inspiration for the hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder. The Boxter isn’t. Certainly not when it’s thirteen years old with 80k kilometres on the clock.

But maybe we’re missing something here. Maybe Uwe Gemballa has sneaked back in to Germany and is trying to surreptitiously rebuild his empire by selling a £5k Boxster for £45k?

Sounds like the sort of mark-up Uwe likes.
