Porsche Cayman Club Sport planned

The Porsche Cayman is about to get lighter - as the Porshe Cayman ClubSport

Porsche look set to debut a stripped out and more powerful Cayman at the LA Motor Show – the Porsche Cayman CS (ClubSport)

Now that Porsche is part of VW – owners of niche -masters Audi – we’re starting to take more seriously every rumour of a new limited edition / faster / lighter / more expensive Porsche that crops up. And the latest rumour coming from Porsche-heads at the Planet 9 blog is that Porsche are about to deliver a ‘Superleggera’ Cayman – the Porsche Cayman ClubSport.

Rumour has it that this more powerful Cayman will join the Porsche Boxster Spyder as the latest stripped-down Porsche at the LA Motor Show. More power is on offer – but only 13bhp more – and a fair bit of weight is stripped out. 19″ lightweight alloys, aluminium components and the silly fabric door pulls from the Boxster Spyder look set to spill over to the Cayman Clubsport to achive a weight loss around 75kg.

You can also expect the Cayman CS to be endowed with a big rear spoiler and some slightly OTT graphics. It looks like the Cayman Clubsport should hit the roads by Summer 2011 and get a price tag that’s a premium to the regular Cayman, despite the loss of various home comforts.

Which is just how it works.
