Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake – perhaps

Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake - real or a Photoshop?

Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake - real or a Photoshop?

What you see here is the latest version of a supposed Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake. I say latest version, because some far less convincing versions of this picture have been doing the rounds for the last couple of weeks. But we dismissed it as just someone Photshopping to get attention. But now we’re beginning to have doubts. A few, at least.

Is it such an outlandish suggestion – a Porsche Shooting Brake? In some ways it is, but that’s exactly what people said when there were first rumours of a Porsche SUV (which became the Porsche Cayenne – with Hybrid option. Who’d have thought it?) and, to a lesser extent, when the first rumours of a four-door saloon from Porsche surfaced (which of course became the Porsche Panamera).

And a shooting brake of a ‘Sports’ car has been done before – although usually as an aftermarket job. There have been Aston Martin Shooting Brakes, as well as cars from Jaguar, Ferrari and even Porsche. And in our car-niche obsessed world (I’m sure Audi will do a shooting brake soon – they’ve done everything else!) it doesn’t seem complete madness to think that Porsche are seriously considering the Cayman Shooting Brake,

It's been done before - a Porsche 944 Shooting Brake

A degree of credibility is lent to this idea by a screen shot that has surfaced of  an XBox 360 racing game – Forza Motorsport 3 – which seems to feature a Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake. And that releases to the market in October. So maybe we will see the Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake at Frankfurt in September.

But don’t hold your breath.
