The new Renault Kadjar SUV – Renault’s take on the Nissan Qashqai – has been revealed ahead of a debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The new Renault Kadjur SUV was teased last week, but today it’s been revealed ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut next month.
Aiming to take on the C-Segment crossover market, the Kadja should be off to a good start as much of what underpins it is from the Nissan Qashqai – the market leader in the UK – which means, although there are styling differences, in terms of size and engine options the Kadjar is very Qashqai-like.
Positioned above the Captur in Renault’s SUV/Crossover lineup, the Kadjar gets more fluid lines than the Qashqai, with the Renault grill reaching out to the slim headlights, a kink in the waistline like the Qashqai, 19″ alloys, skidplates and stainless steel boot-sill guard.
Inside is said to be “smart, comfortable and carefully appointed“, with high-quality foam-backed materials that are soft to the touch for the dash, big glass roof, Renault’s R-Link 2 infotainment system and double stitching on the seats, doors and instrument panel cowling.
Under the skin, buyers will have the choice of front-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive (with 4WD versions having the choice of three modes – Auto, LOCK and 2WD), 190mm ground clearance and engines likely to be sourced from the Qashqai.
The Renault Kadjar will get a public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in March and go on sale in the UK in autumn 2015, by which time we should have prices and specs.
