Salon Privé 2010: The Cars

Salon Prive 2010

Salon Prive 2010 gets underway today for three days

Salon Prive 2010 started today with a huge assortment of Supercars and Hypercars littering the lawns of the Hurlingham Club in Chelsea.

Salon Privé. It’s an event we are always happy to cheerlead because it offers a  great day out in great surroundings together with some of the best and most interesting cars on the planet – with complete access.

Salon Privé 2010 kicked off today in the sumptuous grounds of the Hurlingham Club in Chelsea under an azure sky with just a trace of mackerel cloud for most of the afternoon. Bliss.

Last year we had the first public outing for cars like the Aston Martin One-77 and the Jaguar XJ. But this year there are no big name public debuts (although I suppose the Mercedes C63 AMG DR 520 counts as a debut) but there were plenty of big names – more seemingly than last year.

Rolls Royce brought along both Ghost and Phantom (the Ghost was here last year but as the EX200) and had on show its all-singing, all dancing Picnic Set in the boot of a DHC. Jaguar were out in force with plenty to drool over and Bentley paraded the Mulsanne and Supersports convertible.

Morgan were back with the Aero and although Aston Martin didn’t bring the One-77 they did bring along the Rapide. Lots of other goodies on show from Veritas to Lotus and Maserati to Lamborghini.

Also strutting their stuff are a whole pack of pre 2000 hypercars such as the McLaren F1, Ferrari F50 and Jaguar XJ220.

We’ve put up a gallery of pictures of this year’s Salon Prive, and we’ll be adding to it over the next few days.

As always, a great day, great cars and great food and drink.
