The Smart ForTwo and Smart ForFour ranges have been updated for 2016 in the UK, and the Smart Brabus Sport Line will cost from £13,810.
It’s not yet two years since the new Smart ForTwo and Smart ForFour arrived (with a sibling-under-the-skin Renault Twingo offering a cheaper way in to Smart) as a more accessible Smart range with wider appeal, although with a price structure that still wasn’t exactly bargain basement.
Less than two years on, Smart are busy tweaking their offerings in the UK, with the arrival of the Brabus Sport Line and a re-jigging of the range and equipment on offer.
The new range at Smart consists of the Passion, Prime, Prime Sport and the new Brabus Sport Line, with smart digging back to the 1970s for inspiration by fitting the ForTwo Passion with a fabric roof (the modern equivalent, we guess, of the vinyl roof).
Other standard spec items on the entry-level Passion include smart audio, Climate, leather steering wheel and silver 15″ alloys, with the Prime models adding heated front seats, leather and gloss black alloys.
The smart Prime Sport adds further to the standard spec with perforated leather on the steering wheel (what more could you want?) with flappy paddles on the TwinMatic Auto models, lowered suspension, chrome tail pipe and 16″ 8-Y-spoke alloys.
Above the regular trim levels now comes the Smart Brabus Sport Line – only available with the 89bhp engine – which gets 17″ Brabus alloys in matt grey, Brabus front splitter, black rear apron, Brabus stitching and logos inside and brushed steel pedals.
Options across the Smart range now include Premium Equipment Line (£845) throwing in stuff like electric mirrors, parking sensors and Mirror Link, and Premium Plus (£1,345) which adds ambient lighting, LED headlights and tail lights, cornering fogs and rear view camera.
The new Smart is now on sale at Mercedes UK Smart dealers, with prices starting at £11,125 for the ForTwo Passion with the 70bhp engine, rising to £16,275 for the Night Sky Brabus Sport Premium Plus.
